Okay so maybe I’m not exactly that but I did almost successfully pull of a surprise party for my roommate. She turned 21 this past Tuesday and myself along with the help of her boyfriend planned a surprise party at our apartment. In all honesty I found myself stressing just a tad because I was waiting anxiously forever for them (my roomie, her bf, and her parents) to leave to go to dinner so I could get started with everything. I had told people to be there by 8:30pm that night. When did my roomie finally leave the house?? A little after 7:30. Which left me only an hour to pick up the cake, get decorations, plates, and everything else, come back, decorate, and get myself ready for the people who were coming. On my way back from the store with my friend Lisa, my roomie’s bf texts me saying that SOMEONE FREAKING RUINED THE SURPRISE. They called her & said -brace yourself – “I don’t know if you know already and we may be running a little later but we’re on our way to your surprise party”. Seriously though who texts/calls the birthday girl and tell her – the one who’s to be surprised – that you’re going to be late for her surprise party. Those weren’t exact words but it was of that nature and I was sooooooooooooo pissed off. Like, unbelievably upset. It was ridiculous. If Lisa hadn’t been with me to make me laugh I really would have went all the way off. Pulling up when we got back to the apartment, there were people arriving for the party and I was completely devastated !!!!! Lol, it was no longer a surprise and now I had to go and tell all these people that came with the anticipation of SURPRISING my roommate. I was so upset. Before walking into the house we decided not to tell them she knew and to just let them “surprise her” but it was still funny because she was still so confused/surprised when she walked in the door. All in all, it was a great night. My 1st party planning experience was definitely one to remember.
