Spring 2012 is now history in my books. This semester was a pretty successful and eventful one for me. That’s partially because I was enrolled in “filler” courses. I took this semester to boost my GPA which is kind of a set back in a sense because I’ll be at UH longer but its good for my GPA like I said. So far I have two A’s which is great so all the plans I have next semester shouldn’t be hindered because of my GPA like they’ve been doing before. I’ll have more opportunities for scholarships, organizations, etc. which is great. I paid my advisor a visit as well and I really need to pray about what she told me because I wasn’t exactly happy with what she had to say about courses over the next couple years and graduation. I can’t automatically accept it right now until I figure out if I really have to.
This semester I was the president of the Caribbean Student Org. and it was a challenge to say the least. It was fun but a challenge. Before I was elected, C.S.O. had been inactive on campus and that was something I was passionate about changing. I made my best effort to put C.S.O. out there in the UH and Houston community and for what was done, its a great start. I resigned from the positions because of several reasons but the main one being that my time in that position had come to an end. I did what I needed to do and elected someone who I think would do a great job in continuing what was started. Looking forward to seeing whats in store.
As you may or may not have known (even though I’m pretty sure you know) I got hired as a student promoter for company called Campus Entertainment in March for a 5-week internship. It was a very interesting but very fun program and I would definitely consider working with them again. My job was to distribute 600 cans of Sundrop every week for 5 weeks!! At first this seemed near impossible. It was overwhelming having the 50 cases of soda in my room but once word got out that I had free soda for the campus each week they began to disappear faster. This program also gave me the great opportunity to connect with people I may not have connected with and I developed relationships that will probably help me while I’m here at UH and even beyond. I’m grateful to have been given this opportunity!!
I’m truly enjoying my new job at the music library (can’t seem to get away from the music school for whatever reason). The people are fun even though the job isn’t the most exciting. However I’m never bored. It fits around my schedule and its not demanding at all and I get good hours which is something my previous job failed miserably at doing. I also just got told that I’m due for a raise soon which are words I’ve never heard so I am very excited about that.
This summer is panning out to be a great one as I move into an apartment with my really good friend Smoot and my little sister. I finally have the opportunity to get out of Moody Towers!!!!!! PRAISE JESUS! — Goodbye & good riddance!!! I’m excited to really begin living an adult life. You know — paying bills and dealing with landlords and buying my own grocery. I can’t contain my enthusiasm.
So many other things have happened this semester but this is the gist of it. Grown closer to some as I drifted apart from others, just as life always seems to do every now and then. Had new experiences which have definitely found its way into my regular schedule.
God has also been strengthening me as I continue to do my best living for Him daily. I’ve grown and matured in Him and its helped me in so many other areas of my life and for that I’m thankful.
✌♥
